Norris has learned that a national test of a new Presidential Alerting System that was previously scheduled and postponed will occur today at 2:18 Eastern Time.

The news of the test, published on the Government Technology website, comes at a time when emergency preparedness and emergency management are paramount on everyone’s minds.

We’ve discussed before the importance of having an emergency notification system and emergency preparedness plan in place.

In today’s world of escalating mass shootings  and severe weather events, it is so important that those responsible for our safety have a way to warn us of what’s wrong and direct us how to survive safely.

Norris Inc’s Emergency Notification platform and systems integration engine, Vigilance, can help you keep your students, employees or visitors safe during an emergency event.

The Government Technology story warns that those driving should be prepared since the sudden tones may be alarming. Cell phone users can not opt out of the alert.
