In news from KRGV.com out of Rio Grande Valley Texas, the local La Joya fire department has teamed up with the American Red Cross to hand out free smoke detectors to urge homeowners to take the proper steps to protect their lives and property.
The story cites a statistic from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) that notes 3/5 of all home fire deaths occur in homes with no functioning smoke alarms.
Since the program started February 8 the FD had installed detectors in 30 homes, protecting those families and helping to mitigate the risk of injury or death due to a fire.
Norris knows how important our partners in life safety, the first responders, are. That’s why we work with them for free training on fire alarm systems. We respect the hard working LJFD as they help to protect lives and property, proactively.
Please make sure your commercial fire alarm is tested and inspected annually and that you have a service and maintenance contract in place to keep ahead of any issues that might crop up.
