NI: What’s your title and included duties at Norris?

DD: Technician responsible for inspection, service, and installation of building loss prevention and integrated systems ranging from fire alarm, security, camera, intercom, door entry, and nurse call systems.

NI How long have you been at Norris?

DD: 21 years.

NI: What different positions have you held at Norris?

DD: Technician, inside engineering technical assistant, large account project manager, operations manager, service manager, field operations manager

NI: How has your tenure at Norris prepared you to be successful in life?

DD: Norris Inc. continues to offer its employees challenging opportunities and advancement for those who are eager to grow with one of the best companies in Maine.  They offer a competitive benefits package and support growth specific to everyone based on a specific skillset.  It’s this versatile mindset that helps everyone on our team become more efficient by gaining more knowledge every day.  I try to learn something new every day and surround myself with those who want to be equally successful

NI: What do you love most about your job?

DD: We are allowed to have challenging opportunities every day. For example, I may start the day by testing a fire alarm, then service a security system, and end the day replace an IP camera.

NI: What frustrates you about your job?


DD: Driving in the snow! (Laughs.)


NI: Were you/are you a first responder or military?

DD: No but I hold those who place their own well being on the line for others in the highest regard.

NI: Are you married?

DD: Divorced with kids and Norris has been supportive every step of the way through this life-changing event.

NI: Tell us about your children.

DD: I have a 16-year-old son Elijah who made honor roll at Massebesic High School last year.  I have a 10-year-old daughter Lilly who got a Bucket-Filler Award last year for being the most helpful of all her peers assisting handicap and less fortunate at school.

NI: What lessons have you learned through your duties at Norris that you’d like to pass on to others/your children?

DD: Tenacity, optimism, and teamwork (synergy).

NI: Can you talk about one personal goal you have for 2019?

DD: I want to provide a stable home for my kids as a single dad, balancing personal and professional responsibilities

DD: Can you talk about one professional goal you have for 2019?

DD: I want to become a true Master Electrician recognized by my work and not just the title.


NI: What do you enjoy doing in your spare/free time?

DD: Weekend drive anywhere with the kids. The state of Maine has the best scenery and fun roads to drive. Home improvement projects, mountain biking, and attending car club meets and car shows.
