Every once in a while, nature collaborates with someone’s poor decisions to confound a would-be bad guy and deliver some icy-slick karma.
Such was the case recently in Seattle when a burglar was confounded by icy ground and got a jolting dose of comeuppance!
According to the Seattle Fox affiliate Q13, a burglar was in the midst of his getaway when icy conditions knocked him off his feet and forced him to drop his ill-gotten gains.
The story reports that the attempted burglary occurred in the wee morning hours when the perpetrator tripped a security system at the movie theater he was robbing.
Thankfully there was a properly functioning security system in place.
Police were dispatched and caught the fleeing perp when he slipped on snow and ice.
“Police found a door had been pried open and began searching the theaters in the multiplex. They found a damaged safe in the building, then spotted a man in a green ski mask darting out of the lobby toward 9th Avenue,” the story reads. “The thief apparently slipped in the snow and ice, dropping thousands of dollars of cash as he fell onto the ground.”
Responding officers split their efforts. Some chased the fleeing bad guy while others collected the thousands of dollars the perp dropped when he slipped.
“Several officers chased him, and he was caught in a parking lot across the street from the theater. Meanwhile, other officers worked to corral the loose cash and coins as they scattered across the wet road,” the story reports. “Officers booked the 46-year-old man into the King County Jail on a burglary charge.”
