Andover, Mass. — March 2, 2020: Minuteman Security Technologies, Inc. (“Minuteman”), a leading provider of enterprise security technology solutions, today announced that it has acquired systems integrator Norris Inc., of South Portland, Maine.
With the acquisition of Norris, a well-established integrator with four locations in New England, Minuteman becomes the region’s largest independent full-service provider of integrated security, communication, and life safety systems.
“We are excited to welcome Norris into the Minuteman family,” said Joseph Lynch, Minuteman’s CEO. “As we strive to provide customers with best-in-class advanced security systems, Norris deepens our presence in a core northeastern market, expands our offering into fire life safety, and adds Vigilance, a proprietary mass notification system, to our cutting-edge technologies.”
Said Peter Green, Minuteman’s Regional Senior Vice President: “Norris is an excellent company with a terrific team I have had the pleasure of knowing for decades. I look forward to joining forces in our customer-focused approach of using innovative technologies to provide a full suite of products.”
Founded by Harty Norris in 1979 as a security systems dealer, Norris grew to offer engineered security and fire alarm systems and then progressed to selling all types of security systems, emergency call systems and communications, as well as leading technologies, specialized products, and installation and other services.
“I am thrilled about this next chapter for Norris,” said Mr. Norris, Board Chairman, who, along with his brother, Brad Norris, Board Advisor, have retired from the company. “Brad and I are incredibly proud of how we have grown Norris over the last 40 years, with a focus on doing important work that contributes to public safety and building a great work environment for our employees. We are pleased to have found a partner in Minuteman, which shares these values and our collective commitment to quality and innovation.”
Added Jason Roberts, Norris’s CEO: “My management team and I look forward to partnering with Minuteman, whose talented team, resources, and capabilities will support substantial continued growth within and beyond the region. We are very excited to continue to help drive the growth.”
Like Minuteman, Norris serves enterprise clients nationwide across diverse end markets, including business enterprise, education, energy, healthcare, mass transit, property management, and public safety.
Norris, with headquarters in South Portland, Maine, and branch offices in Bangor, Maine, Lee, N.H., and Burlington, Vt., increases Minuteman’s presence in northern New England; Minuteman already operates regional offices in Andover, Mass., Chicago, Manchester, N.H., Middlebury, Vt., Portland, Maine, and Tampa.
Minuteman’s growth continues to receive recognition. SDM magazine, which tracks the North American security channel, in 2019 ranked Minuteman 29th in its annual ranking of the Top 100 Systems Integrators, up from 30th in 2018 and 38th in 2017.
