One of the best places to work in Maine gives team members a night out!

PORTLAND, Maine—Life-safety and security company Norris Inc., a MaineBiz Best Places to Work in Maine pick for 2015 through 2017, recently got a chance to give back to its employees when interested personnel were given tickets to attend a Justin Moore/Dylan Scott concert at the Cross Insurance Arena.

On March 30th, five Norris employees and a guest each were treated to an executive suite above the stage. The suite came with a private bathroom and an attendant to fulfill drink and food orders.

It’s all about the relationship

Norris and The Cross Insurance Arena have enjoyed a business partnership for several years. When another CIA partner had the tickets to the suite for the night, but couldn’t use them, they decided to pay it forward and Norris reaped the benefits.

Norris team members in attendance included CEO Jason Roberts and his wife Becky, COO Craig Elkanich and his wife Becky, and head of recurring contracts Paul Bennett and his wife Bethany, among others.

Team-building at its best!

This sort of morale-boosting team building is very important, according to Norris leadership.

“Everyone had a great time at the show! Many of us hadn’t been to a concert in some time, so this was a welcomed getaway,” said Elkanich. It was great seeing everyone singing along and have a good time.”

Norris Service Manager for Southern Maine, Jeremy Todd, was one of the lucky Norris folks in attendance.

“My wife and I had a wonderful night. It was so nice to socialize with a great group of people outside of work,” Todd said. “Justin Moore and Dylan Scott put on a great show, and the suite was amazing!”

Norris Marketing and Business Development Rep Dan Gelinas attended with his fiancee, Christina Valeriani. “I’m a huge country music fan and I love going to see live music,” Valeriani said. “I haven’t been to the Cross Insurance Arena for a while and the caliber of the show and the quality of the suite were impressive. We had an amazing night thanks to Norris and Cross!”

Norris: Advancing life-safety & security

All attendees got a chance to see new Norris signage onsite, letting everyone know the premise was being protected by Norris life-safety & security systems.

“The new signs and placards look great throughout the arena,” Elkanich said.

Spectra Partnerships Director of Corporate Partnerships Zach Davis agreed having Norris systems in place was a bonus.

“I’m happy that [they] were able to see the Norris door signs and placards,” Davis said. “They’ve been helpful keeping patrons on their best behavior.”

Norris and Cross: bettering their communities for four decades

The Cross Insurance Arena is Maine’s premiere entertainment venue. Nearly 40 years ago, ground was broken for the facility, which has played host to some of the biggest names in entertainment over the years. Over 5,600 events and 17,633,239 guests later, the newly renovated Cross Insurance Arena (formerly the Cumberland County Civic Center) continues to deliver with Norris as its life-safety and security partner. Most recently, Cross became the home of the Maine Mammoths, Maine’s National Arena League pro football team.

Norris, Inc.—a South Portland, Maine, based life-safety and security integrator with satellite offices in Bangor, Maine; Lee, New Hampshire; and Burlington, Vermont—was founded nearly 40 years ago by two brothers, Brad and Harty Norris. The brothers remain on the board of directors today and continue to help steer the enterprise toward its goal of advancing life-safety and security, and communications while striving to grow in its status as Northern New England’s leading systems integrator. Norris provides fully integrated life-safety and security solutions, comprising disparate systems including fire alarm, intrusion detection, access control, video surveillance, emergency notification and communications.
