Norris Inc. is always looking to give back to the community, protect lives and property and is always on the lookout for the best, most efficient way to send and receive signals—take for example our AES Mesh Network.

So Norris didn’t need to think long before making the decision to approach their monitoring center—Home Security Monitoring Center (HSMC) in Stowe, Vermont—and begin discussions on integrating Norris’ sister company, Vigilance, which provides the best in emergency notification and systems integration.

What does the integration encompass? Norris’ Chief Technology Officer, Josh Delano said the integration allowed for HSMC’s well-trained team of 24/7365 operators to initiate pre-programmed notifications and response protocols within Vigilance from signals they receive from legacy on-site systems.

“The current integration allows for initiating alerts within Vigilance from signals received by HSMC, Delano said. “HSMC sends us the specific signal and description and we can, in turn, initiate a specific alert for every signal or only signals with specific text. There can be multiple monitoring accounts set up for a single Vigilance system and multiple alerts based on various alert signal filters.”

Delano pointed out that the integration allows for additional notifications and integrations based on existing installations with hard-wired systems.

“For example, if you have physical or wireless panic buttons set up to call offsite to police with a security panel and traditional monitoring,” Delano explained, “you can set up HSMC to notify Vigilance, which occurs in seconds, and then trigger additional actions such as notifying additional staff in the building, locking down access control or initiating paging instructions or announcements.”

Delano said the integration really provided more features, and functionality and allowed Norris to better serve and protect its clients.

“It allows for a response to the situation without waiting the average 10 minutes for a police response,” He said.

Norris and it’s integration partners, Vigilance and HSMC were able to move nimbly and had the integration completed in short order. It was started and finished in February of 2019 and was development project of the programmers at Vigilance software, working with Norris and HSMC for testing.

What future integrations might be on the roadmap?

“We are currently exploring sending signals directly from Vigilance to DICE to enable Vigilance to report to 24/7 monitoring without the use of additional dialers,” Delano said.

DICE is a central station automation platform provider and also a Software as a Service (SaaS) company that provides hosted backend office systems like cloud video recording, service and sales software, and accounting and financial systems.

Home Security Monitoring is a UL-listed, national monitoring center with home town feel, based in Stowe, Vermont. It was important to Norris to pick a high-quality, high-performing national-level monitoring center that was still local and fit in Norris’ Northern New England footprint.
