Norris feels that it’s people are the best around–dedicated to life safety and security and devoted to providing their customers with the absolute best experience. No one likes to think about having to make use of life-safety and security systems, but it’s nice to know that the need arises, your systems were designed and installed by the long-time life-safety and security professionals at Norris Inc.
Norris likes to give you a peek inside its enterprise with a regular series that focuses on the people who make up Norris Inc.
This time, Norris Inc.’s Employee of the Month is the often-times tongue-in-cheek New Hampshire Installer/Technician Barney Boyle.

What’s your title and included duties at Norris?

Installer/tech. Duties include giving my coworkers a hard time.

How long have you been at Norris?

6……..long……… Years.

What different positions have you held at Norris?

I’ve held many positions here at Norris:

Sitting in front of a panel doing inspections/programming etc.

Holding a test pole for heats and or smokes

Crouched down while doing voltage and Amp readings on batteries.

Climbing ladders while installing conduit, cabling or devices.

Yah know….the usual type of positions an installer/tech would be in.

Most of the time,  I take my hat off and rub my head while trying to figure an issue out

And there was that one summer that I had to spend wheelin’ around on an electric mart cart……..

How has your tenure at Norris prepared you to be successful in life?

I’ve learned that one way or another the job will get done.

What do you love most about your job?

The people I work with.  We have a good little “family” down here in NH.

What frustrates you about your job?

Ademco tech support.

Do you have a family?

Nope,  I was raised by gorillas.

Young Barney

Children?

God help me,  I have a 13-year-old girl named Rowan.

What lessons have you learned through your duties at Norris that you’d like to pass on to others/your children?

Do the best you can with what you have, and have fun.

Can you talk about one personal goal you have for 2019?

I have yet to do an all you can eat taco night……so that’s on the radar.

Can you talk about one professional goal you have for 2019?

To still have a job at the end of the year.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare/free time?

Spending time with my wife and kiddo, tinkering on the race car with my dad and brother……which usually includes a few cold ones around a fire pit.

Anything else I haven’t asked about that people should know?

Believe it or not,  some people may find me “sarcastic”. I don’t see it.
