Emergency Alert System, Engaged Citizen Save Toddler

What could have been a tragedy ended with tears of joy when a local of Navarro County, Texas citizen was engaged in his municipalities life-safety and security measures and heard an emergency alert via the county’s emergency notification system.

In news from ABC 25, the citizen was able to join in a search and quickly find a missing 3-year-old girl nearly a mile from where she had last been seen. Luckily, the neighbor found the girl before anything tragic happened.
Less than an hour after the emergency notification was sent, the authorities sent out a tweet announcing that the girl had been found.

Authorities said that the nature of the emergency notification system meant that they were able to quickly and efficiently share specifics of the emergency with citizens signed up to receive the alerts it was this quick dissemination of information that led to the girl’s safe return to her parents.
