Norris has a real drive to hire the best and brightest. It’s not only a goal but a passion.

In order to most fully install, service and maintain cutting edge life-safety and security systems in Vermont, Norris has put in place a Green-Mountain-State-based team of experts that includes leaders in their fields, including Glenn Gurney, Dame Diette, and Scott Lee.

Today’s employee profile is on Scott Lee.

NI: How Long have you been with Norris?

SL: I have been a part of the Norris team going on four years.

NI: What’s your title and included duties at Norris?

NI: What different positions have you held at Norris?

NI: How has your tenure at Norris prepared you to be successful in life?
SL: As I am approaching the end of my fourth year, I realize the value of expanding my knowledge and skills of Life Safety systems. This job has afforded me the opportunity to continue learning, work directly with the customers, work independently and throughout the state of Vermont which I find a better compliment to my personality than sitting behind a desk for eight hours a day.

NI: What do you love most about your job?
SL: I like it when a job goes smoothly, exceed the customer’s expectations and build great relationships.

NI: What frustrates you about your job?
SL: Sometimes, we don’t do the best job completing a thorough scope of work or estimate and we run into difficulties with time, materials and clarity of expectations and this causes unnecessary headaches that make it much harder and at times impossible to meet the needs of the customers.

NI: Are you married?

SI: Although I am not officially married, I have been with my partner for over 20 years.

NI: Have any children?

SL: I have three children, two girls, and a boy.  Angel and Amanda are 28 years old and Jacob is 27.  The girls are not twins, Angel was adopted.

NI: What lessons have you learned through your duties at Norris that you’d like to pass on to others/your children?

SL: I am very proud of all 3 of them growing up to be fine adults.

NI: Can you talk about one personal goal you have for 2020?

SL: A goal for 2020 and forward, is to you live a healthier lifestyle.  I have also committed myself to help my children with their first homes. Always something that needs fixing and providing more professional guidance as they are now becoming more established in professional jobs. Never easy.

NI: Can you talk about one professional goal you have for 2020?

SL: For 2020 I have set a professional goal of completing my NICWT level two certification.

NI: What do you enjoy doing in your spare/free time?

SL: In my free time, I enjoy cooking, farming, fishing, hunting, history, geology, spending time with my family and friends.  I enjoy time either in a tree stand or on the water.

NI: Anything else I haven’t asked about that people should know?

SL: I am happy to see Norris grow in the state of Vermont over the last three and a half years.  I am also happy Glenn Gurney decided to move closer to be a part of the Vermont team. Glenn adds a much higher level of continuity between South Portland and where ever we are in VT.
