In heartening news from KXLY.com out of Spokane, some students recently decided to help out by volunteering to install smoke alarms in area homes.

The story notes that the students wanted to raise awareness about fire safety on campus and in the community. Students partnered with the local fire department, the Red Cross, Whitworth University, First Alert, Campus Firewatch, and the Michael H. Minger Foundation.

We all know how important it is to have functioning smoke detectors or a fire alarm system in place!

Town/Gown is a project aimed at getting “students working alongside firefighters in doing home safety visits and installing smoke alarms donated by First Alert.” The goal is to get students thinking about fire safety and making area homes safer for families.

Norris also likes to help out by donating its time to help train fire science students and firefighters. Norris also likes to honor first responders every chance they get.
